Industrial Rustic Furniture
The clients requested super heavy furniture built from recycled or reclaimed timbers. We sourced some massive old douglas fir beams and worked them through the thickness planer for a day. The simple design was bolted together with battleship sized GRK fasteners up to 10 inches in length. We were not to use any glue to make it possible for the pieces to be dissasembled in future. This was wise because each couch tipped the scales at 300+ pounds. Hidden casters facilitate repositioning. The Randolph shop turned into blacksmith mode for a day and crafted up the iron banding. Lastly the pieces were stained with a mix of gel stains by Leanne Kembel. Amazing results !
